Golf Academy

Junior Circuit

In 2012 I created the Miguel Ángel Jiménez Junior Circuit in Spain, to give children in Spain from the age of 7 to 18 the opportunity to play in a series of tournaments against other children of a similar age. As well as giving the children the chance to enjoy the game of golf, these children will learn valuable life skills through competition as well as respect for their fellow competitors. I also hope that they will get the same feeling of excitement and anticipation that I do every time I play in a tournament.

The Junior Circuit is divided into different age categories for boys and girls. In 2015 the Circuit included 17 different tournaments around Spain, with up to 180 children competing at each one, and with a total of 1,820 competitors. The winners of each category at every event received prizes, but also accumulated points towards the Final Ranking and those children with the most points played at the Final in December in Malaga.

It is a great honour that the Junior Circuit is now an Official Partner of the European Tour and  the Royal Spanish Federation of Golf, and we must also thank PING, Srixon, Melia and AVIS, as well as the many other Sponsors that make it possible for our Circuito to grow so much each year. The success of the Junior Circuit has also attracted the media and we are lucky enough to have the Canal + golf cameras at the Final event giving the children the real feeling they are in a professional tournament.

Golf Academy

One of my dreams as a professional golfer was realised in February 2013, when I opened the School of Golf in my name. The Miguel Angel Jimenez Golf Academy is located in Torremolinos, near Malaga, in Andalucia, Spain. I wanted to create a place where children and adults could learn to play golf at an affordable price on the Costa del Sol, and now I am very proud to say we have a superb facility.

The Academy consists of a 9 hole Par 3 course which I designed myself.  The highest quality grasses were used and the greens are undulating, quite fast but still enjoyable for a beginner to gain experience. For the design of the 7th Hole I was inspired by the 12th Hole at Augusta National, and I called this hole “Angustias”, which in Spanish means “Anguish”!

In addition, there is a large two tiered driving range, practice chipping and bunker areas and putting green, and the range is floodlit to give maximum opportunity for use at all times of the day. PING has installed a fitting centre and golf balls are supplied by Srixon. There are a number of Teaching Professionals and we offer lessons on an individual or group basis.  When I am in Spain I myself use the Academy to practise.

The construction of the Academy was concluded with the official opening of the Clubhouse in June 2014. In addition to the excellent facilities, there is a magnificent shop and locker rooms, and our visitors can enjoy the Spanish sun with a glass of wine and a variety of tapas.
