Miguel Ángel secures second win of the year in impressive style

Miguel Ángel has tied the course record on the James River Course at the Country Club of Virginia to secure his second victory of the year on the PGA TOUR Champions, in the Dominion Energy Charity Classic.

Following persistent rain overnight on Saturday, played was called off entirely on Sunday.  After incredibly hard work put in by the green staff at the Country Club of Virginia and a fortunate break in the weather, play resumed on Monday with Miguel Ángel trailing by two shots at the start of the day.

His first birdie came on the Par 3, fourth hole and “then I felt good the whole way on the golf course”, said Miguel Ángel.  “Everything was working for me.  Even if I missed some fairways, it was on the edge of the fairway and my irons were amazing to the flag”.

The win in Richmond, Virginia, was the opening event of the PGA TOUR Champions’ three tournament Charles Schwab Cup Play-Offs.  Following a week off, Miguel Ángel will travel to Los Angeles and Phoenix for the final two tournaments of his season in the USA.
